{"id":289,"date":"2023-02-26T20:56:54","date_gmt":"2023-02-26T20:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/playultimate.co.uk\/?p=289"},"modified":"2023-07-22T20:48:57","modified_gmt":"2023-07-22T20:48:57","slug":"sags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playultimate.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/02\/26\/sags\/","title":{"rendered":"Sags"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">We will be exploring handler sags as a way of disrupting other teams offence and preventing the effectiveness of set plays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Sags are when handler defenders setup into the throwing lane (like an arrow head zone) rather than covering their person.&nbsp;<br>Although these allow opposition to have uncontested swings and no reset pressure they are disruptive to play against for several reasons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li>They disrupt strategies and pull plays robbing offence of their plan A and flow.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They get up-pitch players out of position and often confuse cutters. This dissociates the cutters and handlers connections.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">These will often be called on the line to last 4-6 passes or until a meaningful forward pass. You should be able to get in the way of deep throws!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep an eye on your person. Note how the cutters run a flood play which doesn\u2019t work. When they do take the free pass everyone is out of position and they have to reset yet again!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Film Examples<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-small-font-size wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/6QtOmno102k?feature=share&amp;t=3812\">Look how much the cutters get out of position. Moving the disc between the handlers is unpressured but archives nothing<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/E9nAa6g3ucc?t=975\">Sag for 1 pass. Look how well the sagging player keeps track of their match up while disrupting the play.
