Before the weekend
1) Target Setting
Going into the weekend we would like you to bring in your own target and focus for what you would like to achieve / demonstrate / work on, as part of your personal development

Good target example: Play honest match defence focussing on recovering my position on the player I am defending so that I don’t get caught out by cheap throws into the breakside. Play with more aggressive positioning within the stack so that I am not over protecting the deep space leading to giving away open under space easily.
Bad target example: Play tight defence on all cuts

The weekend
Timing
- Saturday 11am – 5pm
- Sunday 9am – 3pm
Both session will contain a full size lunch break and a classroom discussion session. This will be a long and tiring weekend but it is crucial we make the most of our time together to build for the season ahead.
You will need to bring:
- 2 bottles of water
- A dark shirt and a white shirt
- A disc
- Enough snacks to get through an intense session
- Lunch for Saturday with good carbs
Venue
Address: Old Saltleians RFC, Coleshill Rd, Water Orton, Birmingham B46 1QE
Getting there: The easiest way to get to this venue is by car. If you plan to arrive by train then the nearest stations are Water Orton and Coleshill Parkway. We will look to coordinate lifts to and from these stations at the start and end of the training. Please look to come together if at all possible.
Surface: This is a grass pitch with flood lighting
Facilities: There are changing facilities, showers and toilets on site. There is also a club house which will serve some refreshments but please bring appropriate lunch as we cannot guarantee that it will be open.
Accomodation
- We have organised a scout hut to accomodate the full squad for this training. You will need to bring your own sleeping stuff (a roll mat or camp bed & sleeping bag)
- This cost will be included in the charge for the season regardless of if you choose to stay in the team accomodation or not.
- We would love it if everyone chose to stay with the team during the training weekends when possible as we will be looking to book entertainment and activities for our downtime so we can get to know each other better.
- Address: Scout House, Brownsover Cl, Birmingham B36 9EF
Focus:
- Get to know each other
- Build a cohesive team fighting for the same goals
- Highlight core fundamentals for the season and developing a unique playing identity.
- Rep an offensive structure to use at our first event at the end of the month
- Work with GB Mixed Seniors players to share best practice and ideas.
