Throwing Challenge

PHASE 2 – GENERATING A CONSISTENT FORM. (WEEK 7 – WEEK 15)

During phase 2 the throwing will be less restrictive and will allow you to impliment your own throwing form but encourage you to take different foci into your sessions

The point of phase 2 is to be pushing yourself to improve but within your normal throwing form and mechanics, any practice we are doing should directly translate to your throwing confidence and in game performance.

As a rough rule of thumb, you should be looking to have:

30% high quality completions – The throw look exactly how you intended
40% low quality completions – The throw was catchable but the flight was not as intended.
30% Incompletion / very poor – The throw was not recieved in the intended space

If you are hitting a higher % of these then you are not pushing yourself enough.
If your % is lower than you may be throwing too far away from your throwing range

PHASE 1 – PUSHING BOUNDARIES. (WEEK 1 – WEEK 6)

The purpose of this stage is to ecourage you to become the best thrower possible. Some aspects of the training in this stage may feel a bit ridiculous and unnatural. Stick with it, only by pushing yourself to feel confident in unfamiliar situations will you be able to meaningfully develop your subconcious throwing mechanics

Why Bother?

This is likely to be the biggest season most of you have played so far and to give you the best opportunity you can to make the most of it then changing your aproach to training and practice is a must.

All of the throwing tasks are short enough to be completed along side a regular training session and provide mental as well as physical challenge. Engaging with the full program will make this seasons training different to last seasons and should enable you to get the most from the cycle.

Only by holding yourself to high standards in your individual practice will you make big gains in your consistency. Visualise the flight of throw you are aiming for, a good rep in your eyes should not just be… Read more: Phase 3(Week 14-Week 18)
